From the Heart of Abba Today:
Come and come and then come again.
I never tire of listening to or snuggling My children.
Remember that verse in Isa. and the one about gathering as a hen but you would not?
Come for comfort,
Or simply to rest.
Whatever you do,
Especially when life is so busy,
And full of stress,
Do NOT be like those of whom it was said,
“God longed to comfort them but they would not.”
This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it Isa 30:15
Luke 13:34 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.
“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.
Apparently in the Luke passage, God was speaking to the Sanhedrin or Jewish leaders. But he is also showing us his heart. He desires to gather us under his wings as a mother hen would her children, but so often we are simply not willing.
We don’t stop and spend time with Him on a daily basis.
When a crisis or time of long term stress arises we can tend to look here and there and everywhere for relief, except under the “wings” of Yeshua.
We are clearly told in Isa. that in repentance and REST is our salvation and in quietness and TRUST is our strength but so often we forget to practice what we know.
We see the same imagery in Pslam 91:4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
We see the invitation again in Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
This is my “thinking” for today and sharing with you. ☺
Isa 28:12 To whom he said, “This is the resting place, let the weary rest”; and, “This is the place of repose”– but they would not listen.
Acts 3:19-20 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,
and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you–even Jesus.
This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever.
Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.
Psalm 31:20 In the shelter of your presence you hide them from all human intrigues; you keep them safe in your dwelling from accusing tongues.
For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.
You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
