Childlike Trust, Faith, Hope

childlike faithFrom the Heart of Abba Today:

In something I have been doing we have been looking at the “I am” statements of Jesus found in the Gospel of John and what they mean for us. Last time we discussed in detail what it meant when Jesus said:

“I am the door of the sheep John 10:7-9

Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.  All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Back in bible times a shepherd was often literally THE DOOR for the night pen. He would lay there at night to guard the opening. No sheep would exit and nothing could enter unless the shepherd allowed.

Jesus is also saying that He is the ONLY way.

John 10:27:

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

Then we see that as His sheep (Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd ). Also we see it clearly stated in Psalm 100:3  “Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.”

Often multiple flocks of sheep would sleep in a communal pen. In the morning each shepherd would call his own sheep and they would all follow him. Sheed knew, really knew the voice of their shepherd.

“I am the good shepherd”

John 10:11, 14

11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—

This week we are remembering our Shepherd. Who did lay down His life for us. No one forced Him. He did it for each of us. John 10: 17-18 For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it again. “No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father.”

Can we become as deeply trusting as the innocent trust of a small child as represented in these sweet little hands? Can we remember that our Shepherd totally cares for us, is SOVEREIGN and truly is working ALL things for our good and His glory?

Even when …..

No matter what….?

Peace and Safety

From The Heart Of Abba:
Psalm 56:3 Whenever I am afraid,

I will trust in You.

Note that this Psalm does not say “if”  it says “whenever”.
Whenever connotes more than a one time occurrence.
Beloved, to be scared or anxious is never a sin.
Remember feelings just “are”.
What you choose to do when you realize you ARE feeling scared or anxious is the place of potential sin or potential blessing.
Recognize, admit to yourself and to Me how you feel in those moments.
Then pause before acting to receive exactly what you need in/for that circumstance.

Strength and Peace

Psalm 29-11

From The Heart Of Abba Today:

Psalm 29:11
The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.
Peace and strength to endure and thrive,
No matter how complex the circumstance of life become,
Are given directly from the HAND of GOD.
They do not come from any amount of striving or worry or trying to “figure it out”.
They come at the very moment of crying out to God, “ I can’t.”
Then His heart replies to yours, “ I know Beloved. You were never intended to live life in your own strength. Here I am. I am with you.”
What area or circumstance of your life do you/we (smile) need to surrender to God this day?

Wait on and Rest on God

psalm 37-7a

From The Heart of Abba Today:
Rest in Me
Rest on Me
Rest with Me

I came in order
That your heart
Could find a place

Come to be restored
When you are broken or shattered

Come to be refilled
When you are empty

Come to be refreshed
When you are dry or weary

Come also simply
Just to “be”
With Me

1 Peter 1:3-4 “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…””…into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade, kept in heaven for you…”

Locked or Unlocked

living Water lock

Locked or Unlocked?

In church today we were singing, Loves Comes Down by Michael Farren.
It begins with:
I brought You all my foolish crowns
With trembling hands
I laid them down
Expecting wrath to be poured out
But You placed mercy on my brow.

The next verse says:
Still my best is nothing less
Than filthy rags and emptiness
One drop of blood raised me from death
And You see me through Your righteousness

As we sang the last line of the refrain, “All my praise goes up as Your love comes down”, I began to understand, to see and then sort of “hear”.

Our praise opens our heart to receive His love, much as opening the gates in a lock allow the water level to rise.

In a lock, such as the Panama Canal or any other lock on a waterway, there are gates.
In order for the level of the water to rise, the gate must be open.

The water is THERE, but until the gate is opened, it cannot come in.
When the gate is opened and the water does come in the level of water in the lock is increased.
Often, this process is repeated many times before the destination is reached.
Conversely, if the water level needs to fall, the gate is CLOSED and the water is pumped out.
Isn’t that an interesting picture of praise and God’s Love?

The Word says, “We enter His gates with thanksgiving and come into His courts with praise”. (Psalm 100:4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name).

Praise UNLOCKS our heart. In order to praise, we must open our heart and as we do so, Living Water flows forth to touch, to heal, to comfort, to restore or whatever is needed.
His Love is Living Water.

The locks allow water to enter the chambers,
Just as your praise allows you to receive My love.

My love is always flowing to you
But your capacity to receive varies.

Praise Me with your hands held open,
To release that which you have long clung to,
And in order to receive My outpoured love.

The picture here was open hands…uplifted or quietly at our side open, holding onto nothing. ready to receive a deeper measure of His love for us.

Here is another interesting part to this time of worship. For me the memory of the locks, which I have been through in a boat was so like the picture of unlocking my heart to invite the Presence of God in some deep places was vivid. I have seen the gates in locks open and receive water as well as close in order to have water pumped out.

I felt in a tangible way the presence of God.
After church the lady next to me asked me if at the start of the service I felt anything. She wanted to know because she too had felt the presence of the Lord.

Be Still Again

psalm 31-3

From The Heart of Abba Today:

Beloved, I love you.
I see what you are going through.
I know your heart,
And its struggles.
I know the hopes that have been laid aside.
Yes, laid aside because a hope is not abandoned.

Lay the dreams and hopes,
The “what ifs”,
As well as the “I wishes”,
At My feet.

Allow Me to hold them for you.
Then arise and go about your day,
Alert for My Presence,
As Refuge,
As travel agent (ordering your day),
And Comfort.

Sometimes during a day,
Or a season,
I will take one of those dreams, hopes, “what ifs” or “I wishes”,
And give them to you.

But remember, the package may be very different.
The dream, the hope, or even the wish,
Will have been transformed,
By Me.

And Beloved,
If I give you a “what if”,
You will find that truly,
I am ALL you need,
To deal with that as well.

No need to worry, fret, or strive.

Simply REST in Me.

Little Squirrels

jer 15-15

Little Squirrels

Little squirrels

On a snowy day

Their entire world is covered

With snow

But someone has set in place

In the form of bird feeders

Which are squirrel proof

But God had a plan

For the tiny squirrels

The birds

Spilled lots of seed

On the snow

And the little squirrels

Were busy enjoying

A feast

How often do we miss

The provision

God is sending our way

Because we think

It should come in a different package

Than God has provided

Let’s be intentional

Today, tomorrow and the next day

To live our lives

With hearts resting in

The truth

That God has promised

NEVER to leave us

Nor forsake us

And that He is our Provision

Be Still

be still

From the Heart of Abba Today:

When your capacity is lower,
Than the demands made upon you,
Then stress prevails.

You must be intentional,
About seeking moments,
During each day,
When you come to Me,
Admit it’s too much,
Because it is too much.

You will receive understanding,
As well as compassion.

It is in the moment of acknowledging, legitimate need with Jesus that His presence fills the emotional/heart need.
Then you can cope with the physical need.
