From The Heart of Abba Today:

In quietness, in confidence, in returning and in REST is our strength.

But sometimes, sadly, we do not remember to live that way.

Then when we do live that way, we feel unproductive.
When actually we are called by God to do every single thing from a position of REST.
Having FIRST rested in/on Him.
Resting ourselves….
Who we are….
The circumstances of our life (good and hard)….
The details of the moments of our days….
ALL that “is” us….
Firmly and securely at rest in ALL that is HIM.

Strangely enough, that REST is both an action and an intentional choice.
When we truly commit to live and move and have our being in Him,
Then we will learn to “practice His Presence” within all those moments of our lives…
By first having come TO HIM,
And resting all that is us, the good, the bad and even the ugly, in/on Him

Isaiah 30:15 ESV For thus said the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” But you were unwilling,

To Ponder:

See that log?

The waves would come get it… it would be rolled over and over, out to sea and back to shore.

At times it was stationary on the shore and appeared a nice place to sit and rest BUT then the surf rose again and it became a dangerous thing to be near.

Deception sometimes offers us what appears to be a safe place to rest, but ONLY Jesus is truly safe…

And from the log’s perspective, it had no choice, none whatsoever about what happened to it but eventually it will be at rest.

Interestingly, it remained a log through it all.

(Ha ha)

Once I imagine it was part of a dock or deck, only a few weeks ago. If it could think (which of course logs can’t but we can), I doubt it would have chosen to be torn apart from all it knew. One day, who know what that log will become. Could be a resting place for barnacles or other sea creatures or taken to someone’s home or perhaps a place along the shore for a weary one to sit.

But it will always be a log.

For us, sometimes, life happens. All we knew or thought we knew changes suddenly. If we can just remember to REST we will remember that we are going to be “OK”.

Being Fully “You”

From The Heart of Abba Today:

Beloved, laugh, cry, rejoice.

Embrace the moments,
Whatever they bring.

Don’t simply endure,
Embrace them.

There is a vast difference in enduring and embracing.
When you embrace a moment, whatever it holds,
You are being fully alive,
Fully you.
You are being who I crafted and designed you to be.

Embracing the moments, the ability and desire to live fully alive,
Begins with embracing the truth that I AM is with you,
Caring for you, carrying, and sustaining you,
During all the moments of your life.

Verses to Ponder:
1 Thess. 5:16-18
Rejoice always,
pray without ceasing,
give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Romans 12:15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.

Isaiah 46:4 NLT I will be your God throughout your lifetime–until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.

After the Storm

From the Heart of Abba Today:

For the weary ones;
The ones who are overwhelmed;
Those who have lost a sense of purpose or hope:

Simply come to Me,
Just as you are,
Feeling however you feel,
In order to receive from Me
All that you need to take the next step.

Beloved, sometimes the next step,
Is simply admitting that you are
In GREAT need,
Of a touch from Me.

I offer rest for the weary ones,
Hope and strength for those who are overwhelmed,
(As well as rest and respite),
And fresh hope for the hopeless.

We have just come through the second hurricane in a year. For some of us the damage was much less than for others. For some the damage was intense and right now they are facing huge issues. All of us know people who are still without electricity or have damaged property.

Others who do not live in the path of Harvey or Irma, have probably seen photos on TV.
Still others have emotional or physical storms which have ravaged their lives. Or know others who are going through difficult seasons.

I was driving home the other night and the timing was perfect for me to experience sunset all during the drive. This one is the steeple of a church on Baymeadows.

For all of us, the Source and the Help is found in the One who came to carry our burdens for us, to comfort us, to restore us.

Consider pausing a moment to invite God to draw your attention to something lovely this day. God bless each of us and those we love as we, in Florida, continue to recover. And as each of us, wherever we live and dwell and have our being, continue to “draw near to Abba”.
