Who Am I? Who Are You?

There is a difference in WHO we are and WHAT we are.
The world wants to label us with “what”.
Jesus labels us by “who”.

Who we are is positional.
We are who we are because/when/ and if we are “in Christ”

Who we are is internal and incorruptible.
And not yet fully revealed.

Generally as we are transformed by God,
The external , our external, will change.
Meaning our actions and at times even our appearance will change to reflect the internal reality and truth.

People in general will see only the external and will pigeonhole us or label us and react to us that way.

That itself is filtered through their own (often faulty) perception.
We are NOT who or even what anyone says we are.
We are NOT defined by the actions of others either.
We ARE who God says we are.
He is the final authority and the only righteous judge.

The kicker is that often we also label or think of others the same way.
We do not see past the external (the what) to the internal (the who).
We can ask for God’s eyes.

In the Word, way back in Genesis we see a glimpse of the “who”.
Who we are created by God to be is His own precious beloved image bearers.

When we can rest in this, we are in Shalom.
Verses to reflect on:

Philippians 1:6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

1John 3:2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

Gen 1:27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

2 Cor 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

1 Cor 13:12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

Moses reflecting God’s glory from being with God… Exodus 34:29-35English Standard Version (ESV)
The Shining Face of Moses
29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand as he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God.[a] 30 Aaron and all the people of Israel saw Moses, and behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him. 31 But Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the leaders of the congregation returned to him, and Moses talked with them. 32 Afterward all the people of Israel came near, and he commanded them all that the Lord had spoken with him in Mount Sinai. 33 And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil over his face.
34 Whenever Moses went in before the Lord to speak with him, he would remove the veil, until he came out. And when he came out and told the people of Israel what he was commanded, 35 the people of Israel would see the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face was shining. And Moses would put the veil over his face again, until he went in to speak with him.

Whispers of Rest

I am reading a book by Bonnie Gray called Whispers of Rest. It is really good. She has been challenging us to rediscover our dreams and/or begin to dream. At this season of life, which is very new and fragile in a way, I am learning to live again.

From the Heart of Abba Today:

This is the dream for now.
To REST in Me,
To come and continue to come to Me
From within every single moment of life.
To live as Beloved.
No need to measure up, get it right or figure “it” out.
Safe and secure.
To simply “be”,
Who you already are….Whispersofrestday 20.jpg

Rest vs Frazzled

psalm 46-10aa.jpg

From The Heart of Abba:

We were at worship Sunday and singing this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFByOX8Fb0M and the Lord began to remind my heart:

When you are tired of/from standing,
Weary from the race,
That is not a bad thing,
Or an indication that you have been bad.

It is rather an invitation to lay down and enter My rest.
Literally lay down,
Or choose a place to sit that creates rest in your spirit.

It is simply time to hide all that is you, in the shelter of the Most High, under the shelter of My wings.

Verses to Ponder:
In Luke 10:41-42 Martha is harried and worried from doing and Jesus speaks to her, I think cutting right to her true heart need and says, “But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”
And that one thing is to simply “be” with Jesus, resting all that we are in all that He is.

Psalm 91:4 He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.

Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Exodus 33:14 14 The LORD replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Psalm 46:10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

This Is THE Day

this is the day.jpg

From The Heart of Abba:

Beloved Ones, this is the day I have given you.
Yesterday and all the yesterdays before, were also gifts.

Often there is a time of preparation leading up to “this day”.
Even the most difficult days or seasons are PREPARATION for “this day” and all it will bring.

Beloved, because a thing is difficult or takes a long time, do not for one moment consider yourself a failure or that I have abandoned you in any way.

All of life is a process of revealing to you
That which needs either to be exposed, revealed or healed,
In your own heart.

In order that,
In the fullness of time,
My will will be accomplished (manifested).
In you, to you, for you AND for others as well.

Rest in Me…
Rest in My love…
Do not fear…
Do not withhold or withdraw your heart from Mine.

I AM is Emmanuel… for you, in you and with you…
Forever, all the days of your life.
And yes, each and every moment of your life as well.

Verses to Ponder:
Psalm 118:24 ESV This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 139:5 AMP You have enclosed me behind and before,
And [You have] placed Your hand upon me.
John 10:28 ESV I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
Psalm 139:16 Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;
And in Your book were all written
The days that were appointed for me,
When as yet there was not one of them [even taking shape].
Exodus 33:14 The LORD replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
Isa 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
Philippians 4:6-7 AMP 6 Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. 7 And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].

God Has Gone Before

Deuteronomy 31-8.jpg

From The Heart of Abba:

Everything is preparation.
Even for this season there has already been preparation.
Nothing is wasted.
Everything is used ultimately for your good.
Do not worry do not fret.
Do not become anxious during any season.

The Lord your God,
The One who created you,
The one who loves you,
Is always with you.

I am He who goes before.
I am He who encompasses you .
I am He who prepares the way.
I am He who says,
“This is the way walk in it”.
I am all you need because.
“I Am” that I am
And “I Am” is Emmanuel.

Verses To Ponder:
Exodus 3:14 KJV And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
AMP And God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM and WHAT I AM, and I WILL BE WHAT I WILL BE; and He said, You shall say this to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you!
Deut 31:8 NIV The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Matthew 6:34 ESV Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Isaiah 30:21 And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.

Safe in Sorrow

no further.jpg

From The Heart of Abba:

Sorrow welling up,
Rolling over you.
Causing feelings to arise.

Safe in the Father’s love.
Choosing to listen and feel.

Realizing that the sorrow,
Is very similar to a wave,
Upon the sea.

Recalling that God establishes the waves,
And the seasons of your life,
Down to the moments within a day.

In Him, nothing is random,
And in Him all is well.

Even if waves threaten to swamp you,
In a given moment.
Because they will be allowed.
To go “thus far” and no more.

Verses to Ponder:

Job 38:8-11 “Or who shut in the sea with doors when it burst out from the womb, when I made clouds its garment and thick darkness its swaddling band, and prescribed limits for it and set bars and doors, and said, ‘Thus far shall you come, and no farther, and here shall your proud waves be stayed’?

Isaiah 51:15 “For I am the LORD your God, who stirs up the sea and its waves roar (the LORD of hosts is His name).

Isaiah 43:1-2 But now, thus says the LORD, your Creator, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine!  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

Psalm 42:7 Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls; All Your breakers and Your waves have rolled over me

Psalm 89:9 You rule the swelling of the sea; When its waves rise, You still them.

By His Wounds

healme.jpg

From The Heart of Abba:

I was listening to a song which has only one lyric, “By His wounds, we are healed”. The lyrics were stuck in my mind. So I began to ponder, this is the result.
Be blessed in the LOVE of God.

By His Wounds,
We are healed.

First in the Spiritual, then as we come into alignment in the natural,
Emotionally, Physically,
Heart, mind, body, soul and spirit.

Not by any person are we healed,
It is by the Spirit of the Living God.

Circumstances may remain essentially the same,
Our aches and pains (physical and emotional)
May remain….

We ARE healed simply by coming into alignment
With the will and Person of the One who loves us.

We are healed, changed, transformed and renewed
Each time we pause and enter into communion with Him.

So WHY do we look to others?
To circumstances?
To anything other than being still and
Resting all that we are in/on Yeshua?

1 peter 5:6-7 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, so that in due time He may exalt you. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Psalm 55:22
Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.
Jeremiah 17:14 Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.

His Own

Psalm 63-8 .jpg

From The Heart of Abba Today:

Beloved,
You are mine.
I have GOOD plans for your life.

I have promised never to leave you,
Nor forsake you.

In fact I am He who carries you.
Even to your gray hairs
Or loss of hairs,
I AM will carry you.

Surrounding you with songs of joy
Sung from My heart into yours.

I have promised to
Support you, uphold you, Enfold you
By My love.

My strong right arm is with you.
My eyes are always upon you.

Why?
Because I love you and
You are mine.

Psalm 63:8 I cling to you; your right hand upholds me.
Ephesians 4:15 AMPC Rather, let our lives lovingly express truth [in all things, speaking truly, dealing truly, living truly]. Enfolded in love, let us grow up in every way and in all things into Him Who is the Head, [even] Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).
Psalm 32:7 You are my hiding place; You, Lord, protect me from trouble; You surround me with songs and shouts of deliverance. Selah.
