From The Heart of Abba Today:
When your heart is troubled,
Disturbed,
Restless,
Or in any way other than,
At rest in My Peace,
Pause and be intentional.
Come to Me.
Seek My Face.
Be aware of Me.
In a tangible way.
I created you.
I know you.
I know your heart.
Therefore I know,
How to bring your heart,
Into a secure state,
Of resting in Me.
I am My Love.
You are My Beloved.
Rest in My Peace,
Which is My care,
My provision,
But most of all,
My LOVE.
We do not need to worry or fret or be concerned what others think about us, say about us or do to us. We CAN be secure in His love for us. In other words, we can BE LIKE a LILY.
A Daylily lasts only one day.
During that day it is beautiful.
It feeds the bees and butterflies.
It brings forth seed pods for the future.
And for sure it does not worry about how it is going to do all that in just ONE day.
God created it. God planned for it. It’s lovely just being a Daylily and doing what a Daylily does.
How can we do that? By learning how to be intentional about RESTING in Christ. Resting in who He created us to be. Learning how to go to Him when our hearts are disturbed. Even when we have forgotten to do so for a time. Even when we have stumbled and sinned.
Hosea 14 speaks of Israel, but we are Israel. Israel has turned and followed false gods, which are no God at all really. In Hosea 14 the prophet is telling them to turn back to God.
Hosea 14:1-7 & 9
A Plea to Return to the LORD
Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God,
for you have stumbled because of your iniquity.
Take with you words
and return to the LORD;
say to him,
“Take away all iniquity;
accept what is good,
and we will pay with bulls
the vows of our lips.
Assyria shall not save us;
we will not ride on horses;
and we will say no more, ‘Our God,’
to the work of our hands.
In you the orphan finds mercy.”
I will heal their apostasy;
I will love them freely,
for my anger has turned from them.
I will be like the dew to Israel;
he shall blossom like the lily;
he shall take root like the trees of Lebanon;
his shoots shall spread out;
his beauty shall be like the olive,
and his fragrance like Lebanon.
They shall return and dwell beneath my shadow;
they shall flourish like the grain;
they shall blossom like the vine;
their fame shall be like the wine of Lebanon.
9 Whoever is wise, let him understand these things;
whoever is discerning, let him know them;
for the ways of the LORD are right,
and the upright walk in them,
but transgressors stumble in them.
In Matthew 6:25-34 we are given some great instruction for those times when we tend to fret or worry about life.
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life ?
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?
So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
So often we try to do things our way. We try to fix things for ourselves and others. The better thing might be to simply be intentional about going to God and RESTING in Who He is and who we are in Him.
We can “be like a lily”.
