From The Heart of Abba Today:

Embracing Me,
Resting in My love,
In the midst of life,
Which includes:
What is,
What isn’t,
What may never be,
Is the path to shalom.

Shalom is not the absence of longings,
Unfulfilled heart longings,
Nor is it the absence of problems of life.

Shalom is resting in/on Me.

Choosing Joy and Trust and Hope,
Which are a way of “putting on Christ”,
From within the messes and messiness of life.

It is knowing you are not alone,
Even in the moments of crushing aloneness.

It is knowing you are safe and loved,
Not because of what you do,
But because of who I am,
And who you are in Me.

Continually Safe

Psalm 73-23

From the Heart of Abba

When the way is unknown
And life is unsure

When suddenly it seems
Everything has shifted

And there is no certainity

Remember this:
I AM is also God With You.

When life is familiar outwardly
Yet forever shifted once again

Your Rock, your Shelter
Has never changed.

“I AM” is your GPS,

My LOVE will guide you
Keep you safe
Then draw you home.

You know the Way home.

The Way is Jesus who is
All you need
Now, tomorrow and Forever.

Rest secure in My love
Which is never angry or unforgiving
Or unacceping of you.

Come just as you are
In any given moment

To receive ALL you need
For every single
Next moment of life.

Joy is our natural state. If you don’t believe that, or it feels untrue, consider a toddler. When they are sad they are really sad. When they are angry, they are really angry. But the very next moment, often with no perceivable impetus, they are abounding in JOY. Often with the remnants of the sorrow or anger still there.

For a little while on Saturday and Sunday night, I and some friends enJOYed watching the moon rise. Often it is the little pleasures which bring forth JOY.

The Broken Road…We are all on it

The Broken Road….We all are on it because the world is broken. But there is also beauty along the way.

When the road you walk
Becomes broken
Shattered and torn
And life is simply
Not the way
You hoped
Or planned
What will you do?

When lonliness
Is your constant companion
Even when you are
Surrounded by people
And your heart
Is frozen and
You feel like you
Are caught in a snare
With no way out
Where do you turn?

How did Paul
Learn the secret
To contentment?
What is contentment?
How do we master that?
Is it even possible
When your road is
So very broken?
When you are broken?
Or Life is broken?

We trust in God and His unfailing love.

God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah
Psalm 46:1-3

Lent 40 JoY

Lent 40 JoY
One of my favorite verses is found in Hebrews 12. It says, “for the JOY set before Him, He endured the cross.”

The entire portion says: Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Sometimes there are things we simply have to endure. Jesus endured the cross for us. He asked 3 times for that “cup” to be removed and yet added, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” (Luke 22).

We sure can ask not to need to endure but if we must then somehow we can also do it with JOY. Not giddy-excited-happy-clappy joy but a quiet enduring joy that comes from a heart that KNOWS that no matter WHAT God is WITH us.

As we remember…and look forward to Resurrection Sunday, Lord help us to endure and also teach us what true JOY is. We find JOY when we know that somewhere someone is GLAD to be with us. No matter what.
And help us be that someone for another at times.

Lent 39: Ripples

Lent 38 “Help My Unbelief!”

Mark 9-24b

Lent 38
Don’t you love the story found in Mark 9:14-29? A father is asking for his son to be healed. It happens like this: “But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” 23 And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” 24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”
And just like that, the boy was healed.
The part I like is that the father needed to have more faith and he asked Jesus to help his unbelief and Jesus healed the child.
Where do we need to be open, vulnerable, and honest and cry out to God, “I believe; help my unbelief!”?
When we do, I believe He will.

Lent 37 TRUST

joshua 1-9a

Lent 37
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be FRIGHTENED, and do not be DiSMAYED, for the Lord your God is WITH you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9
Wherever we go…everywhere we go…every moment of every season….including whatever “moments” this day brings us. Happy moments, Joy moments and scary or sad ones as well.
We, me and the Littles, were playing here the other day. Looking for a thought for today I saw this picture and remembered Joshua 1:9

Lent 36 No Need to Fear

psalm 46IMG_8461

Lent 36
The photos are the exact same place on the exact same day. But in one there are waves and in the other calm.
Calm is the natural state of that water.
Peace is our natural state too.
We were created to live in joy and shalom.
I had the Littles with me yesterday.
A rather large boat went past way out in the water.
Suddenly to their delight, waves appeared.
Both boys were delighted and full of joy.
After the waves passed I asked the older one (7) what caused the waves?
He was completely befuddled. So I asked him, what happened just before the waves?
Still mystified.
I said, “Remember that BIG boat? It caused the waves.”
We were intentional to see the wake and waves from the next boat that came along. It was much smaller.
Sometimes, isn’t life like that for us? We are going along and life is calm. Then suddenly with no warning life is full of waves. Sometimes we delight in the good surprise but other times, not so much. Thank goodness we have a God who is always with us and so we do not need to fear.
The river returned to peace and calm. Kason learned a new fact. I think I learned a lesson too.
